A brief history…

Photographer

I started out as a stills photographer shooting everything from magazines to global campaigns, specialising in sports, health, fitness, portraits and fashion having agents in London, Los Angeles and Paris. During this time I travelled extensively shooting for clients such as Nike, Reebok, Next, GQ, Esquire, Men’s Health, FHM

I held the position of Director of photography for Men’s Fitness Magazine for 2 years shooting all covers and inside editorial content

Videographer / Director / DoP

It was a natural shift to include moving image to my skill set as a Director and a DoP working on a huge diversity of projects that ranged from being a single operator to a part of a huge crew on large TV commercials.

Copywriter

in 2018 I met the founder of a startup brand called The Ethical Butcher, initially simply as a content provider to make film and photographic content for a crowdfunding campaign and I became fascinated by the process of working within this space on a dynamic disruptor brand that had very strong brand purpose and became ever more involved with aspects of the brand to the point where I was offered equity to be the co-founder.

This involved me doing a lot of research and writing as I ran the social channels before the launch of the brand and wrote extensively about ethics, environment and nutrition

In 2020 everything changed again with lockdown, all other work stopped and I became an employee of the brand as Chief Creative Officer & Co-founder. Within that role I shot all of the product shots for the website, made films with all of our key suppliers and started writing blog posts and journals forging the tone of voice of the brand and learning a huge amount about regenerative agriculture and the food supply system.

Campaigner

I started a campaign called #regenuary which received over a million organic impressions from a single Facebook post in its first year going truly viral and was trending so highly it was even considered for inclusion in the English dictionary. This led to me being invited to be a guest speaker at numerous events ranging from agricultural conferences to future food symposiums and to be a guest on a number of podcasts. I was asked about the campaign and about my experience juggling the communications of a disruptor brand.

In 2021 we started a EIS Crowdfunding raise for the business making a campaign film and other promotional material and we smashed our target with 200% overfunding raising £1.4m

Podcaster

I also started a podcast on the back of #regenuary where I interviewed a wide range of people who are in their own way changing food and farming, ranging from well known celebrities such as Tom Parker Bowles though to some of the farmers who supplied our company.

Creative Director

After 3 years in-house as Creative Director I became increasingly involved in operations having over produced content so I decided to step away from day to day and left the business in April 2023 to consult for other brands.

CLEAR Campaign

Communication Consultant

C.L.E.A.R. The Consortium for Labelling for the Environment, Animal Welfare and Regenerative Farming

CLEAR is a non-profit campaign to push for legislation for more accurate labelling on food that includes method of production data from the farm level. The campaign is aimed at policy makers as well as public awareness.

New Foundation Farms

Director Of Knowledge Exchange (Executive level)

New Foundation Farms is a start up agro-ecological food and farming enterprise that aims to completely revolutionise food and farming through the creation of regional hubs of organic stacked enterprise permaculture systems that can feed cities at supermarket prices while achieving deep ecosystem regeneration while offsetting carbon emissions and creating farming ecosystems more complex nand diverse than rewilding.

Agile Chain

Creative consultant

Agile chain is software that connects all parts of the food supply chain from farmer through wholesale to public procurement and the smaller end users such as single kitchen chefs. The software is dynamic and allows systems to connect that would otherwise be impossible creating new markets for farmers and more choice with better information for buyers.

Sustainable Kitchen Consultants is a consulting company that works with the food service sector to advise and implement everything from ethical and sustainable procurement through to recipe development , staff training and procedure refinement. The team work with a number of high profile brands in the F&B sector.

Strategise: First task was to assess current communications and clearly define tone of voice and messaging.

Build new website - Squarespace fully integrate media channels

Revitalise Social media Channels - Using stock I set about reusing neglected channels with regular campaigns on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn

Podcast - I started a longform podcast which has now interviewed 15+ people from nutrition experts, farmers, policy makers, charity heads, authors and campaigners.

TASKS:

Build new website - Squarespace fully integrate media channels

TASKS:

Copywriting: The software brand was mixed up with a consulting company and the information required extensive re-write and simplification of message.

Build x2 new websites: After the initial scope I built two websites to separate the consulting company from the software platform, this involved a ground up redesign and rebuild of a site for Agile Chain and for EM Consulting which is rich in multimedia.

TASKS:

Copywriting: The brand was clear in what they offered but the website was cluttered and confusing with many back linked pages that could send a user in circles.

Build new website: After the initial scope I built a new site from the ground up to include rich moving image content sourced from stock and a much better UX experience with clearly defined navigation and business offering.

TASKS:

Film: Simon was keen to use unique footage from the farm for the creation of his brand and use on the website so I visited and made a film based around and interview with cut aways and drone footage showing the extraordinary landscape he’s working in

Brand: Working with Creative Director and graphic Designer Ash Gibson we created a unique brand and tagline of ‘responsive farming’.

Build new website: After the initial scope Ash and I built a new site from the ground up to include the moving image content we shot on site.
